Yin & Yang Rituals
Certain foods can either give your body heating or cooling effects. Based on Chinese medicine, eating a large consumption of either Yin or Yang is known to interfere with the bodies regulatory system. Finding the right balance of Yin or Yang can also be obtained through being in motion or sitting still. (Sitting still is Yin and being in motion is Yang.)
Yin food is cool and broadens the energy flow in the body and Yang food is warming and decreases the energy flow in the body. This can also be effected by our environments as well as season change. Cold weather and a calm city is like Yin and a hot climate and busy city is more Yang. Incorporating the proper amounts of Yin or Yang foods in your daily diet is very important for maintaining balance in the energy flow in your body along with your environment.
Those foods are believed to ultimately determine the status of your health, by disrupting or re-establishing an equilibrium that allows you to live a long and healthy life. (1) The best way to find balance in Yin and Yang food during season change is to slowly change your eating patterns. There are very important macrobiotic combinations that can move or improve the bodies energy flow, immune system function, mood, and physiological abilities.
